Years later, Stead would remarry. She would realize her dream to be a missionary. Her daughter Lily would continue that dream by also entering the mission field. Stead's life was a testimony to the faithfulness of God.
While few of us have lived through a tragedy such as this, the truth is that most Christians struggle with trusting God. We complain, cry, and shake our fists at God. We judge Him as unfaithful and try to manipulate our circumstances rather than just acknowledge our helplessness and lay our burdens at Jesus' feet. We live in a culture that is steeped in the pride of self-accomplishment & pride. God wants us to simply come to Him in humility, recognize our weaknesses, and trust in Him. He promises to be faithful and to make His perfect will a reality in our lives, but we have to let Him work. As you read through the words of this precious hymn, let the truths be birthed in your heart. It IS so sweet to trust in Jesus...He will be faithful to the end!
"Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus"
Tis so sweet to trust in
Jesus, And to take Him at His Word;
Just to rest upon His promise, And
to know, 'Thus says the Lord!'
**Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him!
How I've proved Him o'er and o'er
Jesus,
Jesus, precious Jesus!
O for grace to trust Him more!
O how sweet to trust
in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood;
And in simple faith to plunge
me 'Neath the healing, cleansing flood!
Yes,
'tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease;
Just from
Jesus simply taking Life and rest, and joy and
peace.
I'm so glad I learned to trust
Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend;
And I know that Thou art with
me, Wilt be with me to the end.
